The World is changing

FAST. We’ve passed too many tipping points, and climate catastrophe is no longer a distant threat. It’s here. Our economic and political systems are unraveling, automation and AI are reshaping labor, and the ruling class is locked in a power struggle over what comes next. Will they double down on neoliberalism? Embrace overt fascism? Try to escape to Mars? One thing is certain: their solutions won’t save us.

Who We are

That’s where Redneck Gone Green comes in. Hosts Shane Knight and David Cobb cut through the noise to have real conversations about what’s happening, why it matters, and—most importantly—what we can do about it. Inspired by the revolutionary spirit of working-class people, we’re building an eco-socialist vision for a just, sustainable future.

What We Are

This podcast isn’t about doom-scrolling or despair. It’s about action. It’s about preparing ourselves, our families, and our communities for what’s coming. It’s about learning how to build local resilience, organize effectively, and create real, nonviolent revolutionary change where we live, work, play, and pray

David K Cobb

David Cobb is a “people’s lawyer” who has sued corporate polluters, lobbied elected officials, run for political office himself, and been arrested for non-violent civil disobedience. He believes we must provoke—and win– a peaceful revolution for a peaceful, just, sustainable and cooperative society if we are to survive.

David was born in rural Texas and worked as a laborer before going to college and Law School. He maintained a successful law practice in Houston for almost a decade before devoting himself to full-time social change efforts.

In 2002 David ran for Attorney General of Texas, pledging to use the office to revoke the charters of corporations that repeatedly violate health, safety and environmental laws.  In 2004, he ran for President of the United States on the Green Party ticket and forced a recount in Ohio that helped launch the Election Integrity movement.

In 2010 he co-founded Move To Amend, a campaign for a constitutional amendment to abolish the illegitimate, court-created doctrines of “corporate constitutional rights” and “money equals speech.” In 2016 he served as the Campaign Manager for Jill Stein’s presidential campaign.

Cobb works at Cooperation Humboldt and is a member of the North Coast People’s Alliance and serves as a Fellow for the Liberty Tree Foundation for a Democratic Revolution.

Shane Knight

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Shane spent his childhood in the wilds of southwestern Mississippi, the adopted son of a Baptist preacher and an elementary school teacher. He spent his high school years in central Mississippi, where he found his way out by joining the United States Marine Corps. After his time in the Marines, Shane co-owned and operated an antique automotive restoration business while also working at Red Lobster and pursuing his undergraduate degree. He went on to earn his master’s degree in advertising at Virginia Commonwealth University’s “Brand Center.” He then spent the next ten-plus years working in the ad biz as a creative writer & art director. During that time, he became involved with Democracy at Work—a 501(c)(3) non-profit in New York City that produces progressive, entertaining, and educational media designed to challenge capitalism. Shane was responsible for creating the video version of “Economic Update with Richard Wolff,” which he also directed, produced, and edited for nearly seven years. Throughout his time at Democracy at Work, Shane has also worked to help other men understand the oppression and havoc caused by capitalism and patriarchy in their interpersonal, familial, and professional lives. He is currently fulfilling the role of Creative Director at Democracy at Work, and you can find out more about him and their work at www.democracyatwork.info.
